Beginning next year, movie studios plan to begin phasing out renting 35mm prints of vintage movies to theaters, forcing revival theaters to show them in digital format only. This is not how these classic films were meant to be seen, at the push of a sterile button, in a non film format, and many classic films will also fall by the wayside and become lost films - there is an online petition to hopefully stop this by following the link to Fight For 35MM Films...] Thanks to Julia Marchese, New Beverly Cinema and Dark City.

Marilyn, The Self-Styled Siren, and Greg Ferrara's Quest To Help Author Eddie Muller, and "The Film Noir Foundation" Begins Today 02/ 14 and Will...

...and Will End On...02/21/2011...
What Is A Blogathon? You may ask Well, for Those Of You Who aren't bloggers and don't know what a blogathon is...here goes my definition:

I think it's when a fellow blogger, post a banner similar to the banners that I have posted here on his/her blog...In order to take a look at a particular Director, actor, actress, films or films (No matter what Genre or style in the case of film noir...) and you can participate by taking a look at the person films life, etc, etc, etc... during the duration of the marathon or blogathon.

I'am not quite sure, but I think you post a comment linking back to your blog (Informing the host that you posted a post pertaining to their blogathon) on the person who is hosting the blog-a-thon blog.
Now, Visit Marilyn Over There at Ferdy On Films and let her know what you, are writing about as the "For The Love Of Films"..."Kicks-Off" Today.

Now, more information about the film that the FNF plan to save from extinction..."The Sound Of Fury aka Try and Get Me."

According to Marilyn from over there at Ferdy on Films..."In 1950, United Artists released a searing drama called "The Sound of Fury, aka Try and Get Me."

The film recounts the same story Fritz Lang told in Fury (1936) and was directed by Cy Endfield, who would run afoul of the Hollywood blacklist.

Its star, Lloyd Bridges, never had a better role, and Eddie told me that when Jeff and Beau Bridges finally saw the film, they were blown away by his performance.

A nitrate print of the film will be restored by the UCLA Film & Television Archive, using a reference print from Martin Scorsese’s personal collection to guide them and fill in any blanks. Paramount Pictures, which now owns the film, has agreed to help fund the restoration, but FNF is going to have to come up with significant funds to get the job done. That’s where we come in...

I will take it from here Marilyn...In Order To Find Out Additional Information about The Film Noir Foundation and Donate or Contribute to the Film Noir Foundation...Just follow these links...

Question...What Is The Film Noir Foundation?

The Film Noir Foundation...Which Is A Non-Profit Organization...The Film Noir Foundation is a non-profit public benefit corporation created as an educational resource regarding the cultural, historical, and artistic significance of film noir as an original American cinematic movement.

It is the mission of the Foundation to find and preserve films in danger of being lost or irreparably damaged, and to ensure that high quality prints of these classic films remain in circulation for theatrical exhibition to future generations.

The centerpiece of the Foundation's public awareness campaign is the annual NOIR CITY festival held in San Francisco.
