Excerpt From
The Deputy’s Widow: The year 1948 is drawing to a close and things couldn't be much worse for Private Detective Hamilton Baker. It starts with a simple phone call from a woman named Diana Kramer.
With a voice like a teaspoon of honey drizzled over Lauren Bacall, she begs the detective to find letters she's written to her lover, Sheriff's Deputy Chester "Chet" Ferrebee.
Chet is to wed another woman this afternoon and Diana, the scorned mistress, wants the letters back where they belong…with her. Hours after the wedding, when Chet turns up dead in a roadside motel room, his bride beaten beyond recognition and unable to remember anything, Baker fears his client is somehow involved.
As he searches for the letters, he unwillingly digs into the past of the sleepy town of Crane Haven and uncovers the dangerous secrets of a group of men who shattered a young girl's mind, as well as her chance for happiness, years ago.--> -->

Chapter 1...Crane Haven, New York
November 1948Baker climbed from the Packard. The smell of snow hung heavy in the air and he searched the sky for signs of the storm to come. There were none. There was only a quarter moon, but it was bright enough to cast shadows on the day-old layer of white crust spread over the ground. He spied the Big Dipper too, almost laughing at the ridiculous surge of pride that swept over him whenever he was in a group and was the first to see it. There was no sign of snow. But it would come. Sixteen inches of snow so far this month and more on the way. Already, fingers of cold slithered into his coat, pawing at him and he lifted his collar against the feeling. --> -->--> -->--> -->Grab your copy today for more of The Deputy's Widow,...AmazonBarnes and Noble

Well, you have great taste there Eric, and I can say I admire many of these myself. There aren't many books as of late that I am looking forward to as much as this one, and I will be grateful and honored to read it. The advance praise and attention speaks for itself, and it obviously deserves every bit of it.
Hi! Sam Juliano,
I will see if I can get author Eric Beetner, to stop by and response to your comment.
Sam, you and Tony (D' Ambra) are both lucky ...because with this batch of books that Eric, is sending across the coast to his co-author J.B.Kohl, to sign these will be the final books with both authors’ signatures.
Future copies of their book will just have one author signature.
By the way, Sam Juliano, I watched the CGI animated film WALL-E this morning for the first time and it was great...I’ am ready to re-visit this film.
Sam Juliano thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment for author Eric Beetner and giving me a chance to talk to you too…
Take Care!

Sam -
There are so many authors I want to get to but so little time. I'm about to embark on a 20-hour plane ride (each way) so I'm hoping that I can I knock out a few of the Hard Case Crime titles that are clogging my to be read pile.
Hope you enjoy the book.
Eric
Eric: Your enthusiasm and energy is boundless. What can I say? As I'm in my 50's now, I can look back and remember the ability to muster up what is physically needed for any new adventure. That's quite a plane trip there! Enjoy whatever Hard Case titles you settle on! Again thanks so much for the copy, which I will surely begin reading.
Dee Dee: I'm thrilled to hear what you say about WALL-E, which you may remember was my #1 film of 2008.

Hi! Sam Juliano,
I most definitely, do remember that WALL-E was your No# 1 film in 2008.
Sam Juliano,
Once, again thanks for hosting my contest over there on your blog...
Wonders in the Dark this month...
...and for stopping by and leaving a
comment...as usual.
(You are one of a kind Sam Juliano...a nice person.)
